Many parents are discovering the joys of making their own slings. The satisfaction from creating a carrier for your baby that is just right is wonderful, and it also enables those who cannot find something that suits them to make what is in effect a 'bespoke' sling. We have put together a comprehensive list of instructions for making your own sling, from Mei Tais to pouches. If you are interested in making your own ring sling you will need to purchase sling rings and we are delighted to offer the industry standard - Sling Rings™ by slingrings.com. The market leader in both nylon and aluminium rings, Sling Rings are tested vigorously and come in a range of sizes and colours to suit any project. All rings are sold as pairs.
Safety is of course paramount to all who work in the baby slings industry. To ensure quality Sling Rings submit their rings to rigorous testing. During the design phase they perform the following tests:
- Impact Testing
- Pull Testing
- Soaking in bleach and then a full washer/dryer cycle
- Freezing followed by additional impact testing
- Heating followed by additional pull testing
It was considered a success when multiple rings went through all of these steps without breaking. One ring alone will actually lift a 3000 pound machine, without breaking. Additionally, each ring is individually tested and inspected before shipment. It must pass an impact test and a 250 pound pull test before being considered ready to ship. They are also periodically tested by an outside testing facility.
